Fibre connections The Allied Telesyn range of Fast Ethernet Media converters provides a complete family of conversion devices, allowing users to extend the size of UTP networks with the use of fibre cabling. Supporting both SC and ST fibre connectors, these converters can be used to extend networks with up to 2km of fibre. Auto-negotiation and MissingLink™ The MissingLink™ feature enables the fibre optic ports on the media converter to pass the ‘Link’ status of their connections to each other. When the media converter detects a problem with one of the ports, such as the loss of connection to an end-node, the media converter shuts down the connection to the other port, thus notifying the node that the connection has been lost. Simple installation Both media converters feature an internal MDI/MDI-X switch, allowing the converter to be connected to either a PC, hub or switch with a simple UTP cable. The media converters also allow the installer to test the integrity of fibre connection, by forcing the converters to communicate over the fibre cable. This ‘Link Test’ feature allows installers to check for cable faults without the need for expensive fibre-optic test equipment. Standalone or rackmounted Each small media converter is powered by an external power supply unit for use in standalone applications.Where multiple media converters are being used, up to 12 standalone devices can be inserted into a low cost rackmount chassis, allowing all the converters to be powered by a single internal power supply. In critical applications, a second load sharing internal power supply can be installed into the rackmount chassis.

Fast Ethernet and POE power over coax video cable
HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR lets you install IP cameras easily, quickly, and reliably, without the disruption and expense of installing new cable.

Support for your camera is assured, thanks to HIGHWIRE's unique full-rate Ethernet over Coax technology, which has been tested and trusted by thousands of IP installers worldwide over the past five years.

And now with POE over Coax, you can deliver up to 25 watts of POE power to the camera as well, eliminating the complexity of installing local power supplies.

Simply add power
With no configuration or measurement required, installation of HIGHWIRE PowerStar is as straightforward as plugging it in.

Two models are used, as shown in the diagram below. The BASE unit receives POE power and transmits it down the coax. The CAMERA unit receives power from the coax and delivers up to full POE Plus power to the IP camera.

If PoE is not available, or for an extra power boost at either end of the cable, just connect the optional power supply.

Installer friendly
For fast installation and guaranteed performance, HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR features Veracity's unique SafeView display.

SafeView provides an instant and easy-to-understand confirmation of network and power status right across the cable, with no need to access remote equipment to check connections.

Meanwhile, safe and compliant detection of POE equipment and POE over coax compatibility ensures correct operation, with no risk of damage to non-POE or legacy analog equipment.

Reliability assured
Because the length and quality of installed coaxial cable is hard to predict or measure, it is important to have confidence that the cable you are upgrading has the capacity to deliver continuous, reliable power to the new IP camera.

However, thanks to HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR's ultra low-power design and efficient power delivery, even the lowest grade of cheap RG-59 will support a 10 watt IP camera at any range likely to be found in a legacy installation. And once connected, the SafeView power display instantly reaffirms that the actual power available to the camera is sufficient.

For predictable network performance, HIGHWIRE's proven technology delivers full network bandwidth, right to the limits of range. And secure screw-terminal DC connections, or the option of using a UPS-backed POE source, provide the last link in assuring continuous power delivery.

Features: -Hot-swappable when deployed, the switch or router does not have to reboot. -Supports the "pay-as-you-populate" model. -Interchangeable with other 100BASE-X SFPs on the same line card. -Supports the Cisco quality ID feature that enables the switch or router to identify whether or not the SFP is a Cisco qualified SFP. -Optically interoperable with respective 100BASE-X Ethernet interfaces on the same link. The Cisco 100BASE-FX SFP (part number GLC-FE-100FX) operates on ordinary multimode fiber-optic (MMF) link spans up to 2 kilometers long.
The Cisco QSFP to SFP or SFP+ Adapter (QSA) Module offers 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 1 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable (QSFP)-only platforms. It allows smooth and cost-effective migration to 40 Gigabit Ethernet by providing an option to use lower-speed Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) or Enhanced Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP+) modules in empty QSFP ports or when the other end of the network is running at lower speeds.
The Cisco MGBLX1 Transceiver MGE Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) or mini Gigabit Interface Converter (mini-GBIC) is an easy-to-install module that provides a simple way to add fiber connectivity to Cisco 100, 200, 300, and 500 Series switches.

The MGBLX1 transceiver is available for single-mode or multimode fiber-optic cabling and can support distances from 100 meters up to 10 kilometers.
